Mercury Mixer
The mercury mixer is a traditional device used for gold extraction, mainly separating gold particles from ores through amalgamation. By taking advantage of the selective affinity of mercury (quicksilver) for gold, amalgam (gold-mercury alloy) is formed, thereby separating it from other minerals. The crushed ore is mixed with mercury in the drum. Gold particles are captured by mercury and then gold is recovered through distillation.
